A few words (and caveats) about Bengaline and Waterfaille colors:
Bengaline and Waterfaille colors come and go to suit various fashions and seasons.
What's 'hot' right now may be unavailable in just a few months.
(For instance, Peach bengaline was available last year in a variety of shades, but this year it's very hard to find.)
Plus, each manufacturer and mill has their own color chart and naming convention, and each strives to be unique.
So 'French Blue' from one mill will probably be slightly different than another's, or even from one dye lot to another from the same mill.
We strive for consistency in our products, but we have no control over these factors.
Please be sure of the amount and color you need when you order.
Once cut, it's yours, and cannot be returned.

A high-quality grosgrain fabric, heavier than many failles, but not stiff or too heavy - perfect for bodices.

| Waterfaille - Color Chart |
55-inch width, cotton/Rayon, not moiré (no 'waves').
Waterfaille is a member of the Bengaline family, and also a grosgrain fabric.
It is GREAT for bodices, sturdy like regular Bengaline, but fancier, with a 'waterfall' effect.
The fabric has a heavier texture than regular bengaline.

Bengaline vs. Waterfaille vs. Moiré Bengaline

Bengaline is a grosgrain fabric, with low narrow ribs running across it's width.
Waterfaille is also a grosgrain fabric, but the ribbing is randomly higher and lower across the fabric's surface, adding a really nice texture and giving a 'waterfall' effect that changes with the lighting and angle of view.
Moiré Bengaline has an effect running lengthwise on the fabric, giving it a shimmering, wavy, 'woodgrain' appearance that changes with the lighting and angle of view.

Our access to many of the largest New York, North Carolina, Los Angeles, and European fabric mills, houses, and importers
allows us to order from a wide-ranging selection, and we are always adding new and exciting variations to our inventory.
So, give us a call if you're looking for a costuming fabric or a color you don't see on these pages - if we don't have it, we can usually find it for you pretty quick.
(Minimum order amounts will depend on the fabric and the mill, and may range from a few yards to a full bolt.)
